“Casserole” Project

One large problem facing Romania is the fact that orphans who have “gone through the system” must get out of the orphanages by the time they reach 18 or 19 years of age.

In our project work we have tried to help these children by providing clothes, books… Occasionally we have given them food or wherewith to buy some.

Several children have gone on to do well. This spasmodic aid is not the best solution so, after much thought and discussion, the “Casserole” idea emerged!

The plan is to give each needy boy and/or girl a ticket with a right to present this at a good restaurant from where a “casserole” meal can be obtained.

So far a long list of needy children could be identified but we intend to start with seven of the most in need. The cost, per day, for each child is 2 Pounds. As time passes and we may be able to extend the list of children who can receive this meal.

Winter is here. Children are hungry. A good, hot meal a day can be a godsend!

“Can you help?”
“The poor need our help today, not next week.”
